They come together in a foreign city, where they themselves are the others, simultaneously being in the city,
as well as apart from it due to their position as foreigners.

Emma Haugh - Artist Bio

Emma Haugh

Emma Haugh (IRE) is an artist and cultural producer based in Dublin Ireland.Emma works with the manipulation and construction of photographic images, audio and text. After years of developing interactive theatre projects with many diverse groups she continues to play with theatrical devices in the making and presentation of her work. Having also dj-d for, and promoted queer club nights across a ten-year period in her hometown, she continues her obsession with dance music, club culture and queer space in her current practice, weaving together modern mythologies with ideas about the internal life of the individual in relation to their surroundings.Emma is currently working on an interactive opera-disco-boat ride for one and an expansive work that is thinking about dancing bodies, myth making, empty buildings, gay sex and ecstatic release that borders on spiritual awakening.


 Current ideas will find their way to Finland in summer 2012 when Emma will take up residence with Platform art collective in Vaasa for two months to make and present new work.Emma graduated from the Dublin Institute of Technology with a first class Honours BA in photography in 2010. 


She has had two solo exhibitions (Without A Trace destroying the archive-The Joinery Gallery Dublin and BERGHAIN-Commonplace projects Dublin) and has shown work in-group exhibitions and screenings in Pallas Contemporary Projects, The Gallery of Photography and the Darklight film festival. Emma has been awarded two studio-based residencies and has taken part in several experimental residential projects organized by The Good Hatchery (Co. Offaly, Ireland).
